In Ottawa

Let the journey begin, start exploring Ottawa!

While some might say it’s the best year of their life, preparation is needed before jumping into this experience. By this time, some of you already received an admission letter, confirming your acceptance. From then you can already start doing research on Ottawa, your so called “home” for the next couple of months! Well your research starts right here. The French public school board has already made you a list of things to do in our beautiful city! If you’re passionate about outdoor activity, sports, art or music, you’ve made a great choice.

There’s many things to see in the Nation’s capital, and here are some must do while you’re here. Of course, the parliament is one of our greatest buildings in the city. In the summer, they offer a free outdoor yoga class right on the parliament hill! There’s also the National Gallery of Canada, where many shows and orchestras are presented. If you enjoy exploring new museum, Ottawa has plenty to offer. In fact, there’s six main museums to visit : Canadian Museum of Nature, Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, Canada Aviation and Space Museum, Canadian Museum of History, Canadian War Museum and the Canada Science and Technology Museum.

Besides the many museums, there are events happening all around the year. During winter, Winterlude offers a variety of food stands featuring our Canadian treats (Beaver tails, Maple syrup) and structures are installed to slide on it. In Ottawa, light shows are often presented on the parliament hill such as the Christmas Lights Across Canada. This is a great way to celebrate winter! As for summer time, many festivals are happening in the city. The Festival franco-ontariens is perfect if you’d like to submerge yourself in the francophone community. On the first of July, Canadians celebrate it’s country anniversary. Many activities are taking place all over the city. Once again, parliament hill is the place to be for great shows and activities!
